Manual Lymphatic Drainage

The Lymphatic System is a major part of the immune system.

It is through the Lymphatic System that toxic substances are expelled from the body through the bloodstream.

Unlike the blood system, the lymphatic system is not closed and has no central pump. Lymph movement is slow with low pressure due to peristalsis (the rhythmic contraction of smooth muscles to propel contents through the digestive tract), valves, and the milking action of skeletal muscles.

Trained therapists use the technique (Manual Lymphatic Drainage or MLD) to stimulate circulation through the lymph vessels and ducts around the body. Its effects and benefits are profound and many can give credence to its powerful effect.
